The Faculty of Arts and Humanities commemorated the International Day of the Arabic Language
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities commemorated the International Day of the Arabic Language on December 17, 2024. The event was held under the patronage and presence of Professor Dr. Abdulmalik Eissa, the Dean of the Faculty. It took place in the hall named after the esteemed Yemeni poet Abdullah Al-Bardouni.
The event commenced with recitations from the Holy Quran, followed by an opening address delivered by Dr. Mohammad Nasser Hamid, the Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature. In his speech, Dr. Hamid welcomed the attendees and addressed the various challenges and threats facing the Arabic language in contemporary society. He expressed gratitude to the Dean for his unwavering support, which has been instrumental in enabling the Department of Arabic Language and Literature to fulfill its academic mission.
Subsequently, Dr. Ibtisam Al-Mutawakel presented remarks on behalf of the faculty members of the department. The program featured a poetic recitation titled “The Tongue of the Letter Dhad,” along with additional speeches and contributions from students. Attendees were also given a brief introduction to the diverse fields of language and literature.
The event concluded with a language competition that engaged participants, followed by the distribution of prizes to the winners. The event was well-attended by the Vice Deans of the Faculty, numerous faculty members, and a substantial audience of students and guests, highlighting the significance of this occasion in promoting and preserving the Arabic language
