قسم الخدمة الاجتماعية من الأقسام الرائدة على مستوى الجمهورية اليمنية، حيث تقوم برامجه على أحدث ما توصل إليه هذا العلم المهني من معارف ونظريات ومهارات لإعداد وتدريب الأخصائيين الاجتماعيين للتعامل مع المشكلات والقضايا التي تؤثر في قدرات الوحدات الاجتماعية بمختلف أشكالها -أفراداً وجماعاتٍ ومؤسسات ومجتمعات– لتمكينهم من إشباع حاجاتهم والمشاركة في تنمية مجتمعهم ورفعته وتحقيق تطلعاته.
وينطلق القسم لتحقيق أهدافه مسترشداً بتطلعات الجامعة والدولة، وملتزماً بطموحه في الوصول إلى المكانة المرموقة في التعليم الجامعي للخدمة الاجتماعية على المستوى الإقليمي والدولي. واستجابة لزيادة أعداد المقبولين فيه في كل عام فإن القسم يقدم برامج للدراسات العليا (برنامج التمهيدي، وبرنامج الماجستير في الخدمة الاجتماعية، وبرنامج الدكتوراة).
Mission
To prepare highly skilled professionals capable of driving innovation, advancing development, and making meaningful contributions to societal progress by realizing the sustainable development goals, integrating modern technology into the educational process, emphasizing practical training and field research, promoting the production of impactful research to address societal issues, and establishing fruitful community partnerships.

Program Aims :
The program aims to:
- To prepare proficient leaders capable of spearheading social work initiatives within society.
- To cultivate a national academic cadre specialized in social work with advanced academic qualifications, addressing societal and institutional needs and aligning with the strategic vision for advancing professional social work.
- To facilitate new avenues for scientific research and professional practice in social work, tailored to address the societal needs, challenges, and issues.
- To equip students with a comprehensive understanding of knowledge, skills, attitudes, approaches, and advanced modern and contemporary theories in social work, in light of local, regional, and global developments.
- To enhance researchers’ skills to conduct scientific research, with a focus on analytical studies exploring social and psychological problems and phenomena affecting individuals, families, groups, communities, social issues, and professional practice.
- To provide researchers with professional and ethical principles essential for their professional practice.
- To support researchers in their personal and professional development within the field of social work, fostering their capacity for continuous learning.
