PhD Degree Awarded to Researcher Sabah Al-Buaithi in Psychology
Researcher Sabah Ali Ismail Abdu Al-Buaithi was awarded a PhD degree in Psychology for her dissertation titled: Psychological Crisis Management and Meaning of Life and Their Relationship to Post-Traumatic Growth among Aggression Victim Mothers in Hodeida Governorate, which was submitted to the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts and Humanities–Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The dissertation aimed to investigate the relationship between psychological crisis management, meaning in life, and post-traumatic growth among mothers of victims of the aggression in Hodeida Governorate. It also sought to examine the extent to which psychological crisis management and meaning in life predict post-traumatic growth.
The study found that the participating mothers demonstrated a good level of psychological crisis management and a moderate level of meaning in life. The findings also revealed significant positive correlations between psychological crisis management and post-traumatic growth, as well as between meaning in life and post-traumatic growth.
Furthermore, the study showed no statistically significant differences in psychological crisis management or meaning in life attributable to demographic variables, including educational level, marital status, the number of victims, and the mother’s age. The findings further confirmed that both psychological crisis management and meaning in life make significant positive contributions to predicting post-traumatic growth.
Based on these findings, the researcher recommended conducting similar studies in other war-affected governorates and among different segments of society. She also called for the establishment of specialized psychological counseling and support centers to provide counseling programs, therapeutic interventions, and awareness seminars for mothers affected by war.
The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, postgraduate students, researchers, as well as the researcher’s colleagues and family members.
