Under the patronage of the President of Sana’a University, the Water and Environment Center (WEC) organizes the second phase of the training program on “Enhancing the Capacities of Water and Sanitation Institutions in Rainwater Harvesting”, which will held during the period from February 3rd to 5th, 2025, with the participation of experts and specialists in the water sector from Sana’a, Taiz, Al Bayda, Amran, and Yafa Governorates.
The program aims to develop the skills of workers in applying rainwater harvesting techniques through lectures and workshops focusing on sustainable water management.
The program includes reviewing institutional plans, studying water basins and wells in Sana’a, and calculating groundwater recharge.
It also discusses strategies to address water deficits, such as desalination projects, and designing low-cost tanks.
The training addresses community participation, best practices in improving the quality of harvested water, and pollution challenges, in addition to reviewing the experience of a development institution in managing water projects.
The program concludes with a discussion session on preparing executive plans for rainwater harvesting, to ensure the actual implementation of the outputs.
This program comes as part of the center’s efforts to promote sustainable solutions to address water challenges in Yemen, and to raise awareness of the importance of rainwater harvesting to achieve water sustainability and development.
