Researcher Marwan Mohammed Hael Nasser Awarded Master’s Degree in Medical Microbiology from Sana’a University

On Monday, 4th Sha’ban 1446 (corresponding to February 3, 2025), researcher Marwan Mohammed Hael Nasser was awarded a Master’s degree in the Department of Microbiology, specializing in Medical Microbiology, from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Sana’a University, for his thesis entitled:
“Prevalence of Cytomegalovirus Among Solid Cancer Patients at the National Oncology Center in Sana’a.”
The Thesis Examination and Evaluation Committee consisted of:
Prof. Saleh Salem Bahaj – Internal Examiner and Chairman of the Committee (Sana’a University)
Assoc. Prof. Huda Al-Shami – Principal Supervisor (Sana’a University)
Assoc. Prof. Abdulrahman Al-Haifi – External Examiner (Dhamar University)
The study aimed to determine the prevalence of cytomegalovirus (CMV) among solid cancer patients at the National Oncology Center in Sana’a. The findings revealed a high prevalence rate of 96.9% among solid cancer patients, with the age group 31–40 years being the most affected.
In his thesis, the researcher presented several recommendations, including:
Routine screening for CMV among cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Screening of blood donations for CMV before transfusion to cancer patients.
The thesis defense was attended by a number of academicians, researchers, students, and specialists, as well as colleagues and family members of the researcher.
