Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Holds Ninth Board Meeting for Academic Year 2025–2026

The Board of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences recently convened for its ninth meeting of the 2025–2026 academic year. The session was chaired by Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari, the Faculty Dean, with the attendance of vice deans and department chairs.
Key attendees included:
– Prof. Anwar Al-Mughalles, Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs and Hospitals.
– Prof. Arwa Othman, Vice Dean for Student Affairs.
– Assoc. Prof. Adel Al-Ghayli, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies.
– Prof. Ahmed Mujahed, Vice Dean for Quality Assurance.
The Board reviewed a range of academic and administrative agenda items, passing several resolutions aimed at bolstering the educational and research environment. Central to these discussions was the continuous improvement of academic programs to ensure high-quality graduate outcomes.
The Board approved a restructuring of study plans effective next academic year to align with contemporary global academic standards.
Each department has been tasked with developing specialized academic textbooks. These resources will be aligned with accredited learning outcomes to unify scientific content across the Faculty.
Following the completion of legal procedures and recommendations from departmental councils, the Board approved several personnel actions, including faculty promotions, status adjustments, and the tenure appointments of several faculty members and teaching assistants.
The Board demonstrated its commitment to research by approving and renewing several research proposals for Master’s and Doctoral (Ph.D. and MD) candidates. In addition, the Board ratified the final defense findings for several graduate students who have successfully met their scientific requirements.
In line with the Faculty’s modernization efforts, the Board approved updates to three graduate programs within the Nursing Department. These updates are designed to meet evolving professional requirements and enhance the Faculty’s research output in the field of nursing.
The meeting concluded with the approval of the minutes from the eighth board meeting and the resolution of various miscellaneous administrative matters.
