Sana’a University Faculty of Medicine Hosts 36th Medical Interns Research Symposium

SANA’A, Yemen — Aug. 15, 2026 —

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University held its 36th Medical Interns Graduation Research Symposium today. The event was led by Dean Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari, alongside Prof. Ahmed Al-Mutarib, Chair of the Cardiology Department, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Qaisi, Vice Director of Kuwait University Hospital.

The symposium represents the culmination of years of rigorous academic coursework and intensive clinical training, reflecting Sana’a University’s vision to bridge higher education outputs with applied clinical research that serves national health systems.

Delivering the opening remarks, Dean Al-Shehari expressed pride in the accomplishments of the 36th graduating class.

“An academic degree is your passport into the medical profession, but moral integrity and medical ethics remain the bedrock of true success,” Dean Al-Shehari stated, addressing the graduates. “You are entrusted with human lives; let your ethical compass and professional accountability guide every clinical decision.”

He noted that despite operational challenges, the school has maintained high educational standards to ensure graduates are well-prepared to serve in domestic and international medical centers.

Prof. Ahmed Al-Mutarib praised the scientific rigor of the presentations, noting that the studies addressed real-world public health challenges facing local communities. He urged the new physicians to pursue lifelong learning, medical research, and active participation in scientific conferences.

The symposium featured peer-reviewed research sessions covering key specialties, including internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and public health. Senior faculty panels provided formal evaluations and feedback. The event concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing the graduating interns.
