Sana’a University Faculty of Medicine Launches 2nd Temporal Bone Surgical Dissection Workshop

SANA’A, Yemen — Aug. 15, 2026 — Under the auspices of University Rector Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences launched its second Temporal Bone Surgical Dissection Workshop today, organized in collaboration with the Yemeni Otolaryngology Society.

The opening session drew university leadership, faculty members, and ENT surgical consultants from teaching hospitals across the country.

Building on the successful launch of specialized temporal bone surgical training in Yemen last year, this annual workshop aims to provide high-fidelity, simulated surgical training locally, reducing the need for residents to seek specialized instruction abroad.

This year’s cohort includes 11 Arab Board ENT surgical residents. Completion of this intensive surgical training module fulfills a mandatory prerequisite for the final Arab Board certification examinations in Otorhinolaryngology.

Day one featured theoretical presentations and initial virtual simulation training held at Al-Jawda Hall-Faculty of Medicine and Health Science. Over the coming days, participants will undergo hands-on surgical training utilizing advanced surgical microscopes and specialized instrumentation.
