University President Chairs the Regular Meeting of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Council

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University held its regular council meeting for June 2025, chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti – President of the University. The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Shehari – Dean of the Faculty, along with the Vice Deans: Dr. Arwa Othman for Student Affairs, Dr. Adel Al-Ghaili for Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Anwar Mughles for Hospitals and Community Service Affairs, and Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Mujahid for Quality Affairs. Also in attendance was Professor Dr. Abdul Latif Abu Talib – Director of Kuwait University Hospital, as well as the heads of the basic and clinical departments of all faculty programs.
At the outset of the meeting, the University President expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Faculty’s administration and its academic and administrative staff in advancing the delivery of a distinguished medical education. He praised their commitment and performance as the 2025–2026 academic year commences.
Dr. Al-Bukhaiti reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting the Faculty in its pursuit of excellence and encouraging the adoption of the highest standards of quality in medical education. He emphasized the need to adhere to international benchmarks to ensure the quality of educational outcomes and their alignment with labor market requirements and rapid scientific advancements.
The meeting addressed a number of key issues related to quality assurance and academic accreditation, postgraduate studies, academic affairs, and student affairs. The Council also discussed current challenges facing the educational process and proposed solutions to overcome them.
Preparations for the start of the new academic year 2025–2026 were also reviewed, focusing on strategies to ensure a successful launch. The Council emphasized the importance of enhancing scientific research through the implementation of research plans for master’s and doctoral programs across various specialties.
The meeting underscored the need to provide adequate support to researchers and students to enhance the quality and impact of research outcomes. Discussions also covered several aspects related to the academic accreditation process, including program evaluations, a review of progress made in fulfilling accreditation requirements, and strategies to accelerate work toward achieving set goals within the designated timelines.
In conclusion, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Shehari – Dean of the Faculty, emphasized the importance of adhering to institutional regulations and strengthening coordination between departments to foster a supportive educational environment that promotes student success and aligns with the Faculty’s vision of delivering high-quality medical education in accordance with international accreditation standards.
