Modern Electronic Systems:Sana’a University E-Center Hosts Nearly 4,000 Graduates for Medical Competency Examinations

Within the framework of strategic partnership between academic institutions and medical regulatory bodies, the Electronic Center at the Sana’a University, today hosted the fourth round of competency examinations of 2025 required for medical practice licensing. The examinations were organized by the Medical Council and attended by 3,923 applicants holding bachelor’s and diploma degrees across various medical specialties.
During an inspection tour of the examination halls, the Minister of Health and Environment, Dr. Ali Shiban, emphasized that these examinations constitute a fundamental mechanism for enhancing the competence of medical professionals and ensuring their readiness for field service. He noted that obtaining a professional practice license has become a mandatory prerequisite for engaging in any health-related activity, serving as a key safeguard for strengthening public confidence in the national healthcare system.
In turn, the President of the Medical Council, Dr. Abdulkarim Shiban, commended the cooperation with Sana’a University, highlighting that this session marks the first time the Council has fully implemented electronic examinations. He stressed that this transition ensures the highest levels of transparency, accuracy, and efficiency in the assessment and announcement of results.
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the Medical Council, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi, outlined the distribution of applicants across key medical disciplines. Among bachelor’s degree holders, the candidates included: Medicine (626), Dentistry (306), Laboratory Sciences (265), Pharmacy (371), Clinical Pharmacy (58), and Nursing (173), in addition to Midwifery, Radiology, Anesthesiology, and Clinical Nutrition. Diploma holders included Physician Assistants (469), Midwifery (485), Nursing (188), Pharmacy (349), along with other technical specializations such as Emergency Care and Operations.
Hosting this national event reflects the center pioneering role as a center of academic and technological excellence, providing advanced electronic infrastructure for the professional administration of large-scale national examinations. This effort contributes to strengthening the quality of medical education outcomes in Yemen and ensuring the availability of a well-qualified healthcare workforce capable of effectively serving the community.
