Faculty of Medicine Discusses Enhancing Educational Quality and Fulfilling International Accreditation Requirements

Faculty of Medicine held an expanded meeting today, chaired by the Faculty Dean, Dr. Mohammed Al-Shehari, to discuss advancing the educational process and aligning with modern academic standards.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Arwa Othman, Vice Dean for Student Affairs; Dr. Ahmed Mujahed, Vice Dean for Quality Affairs; and members of the steering committee responsible for monitoring infrastructure development.
During the session, participants addressed several key issues regarding the current 2025–2026 academic year, including:
– Ongoing arrangements to finalize and release student results across all levels.
– Evaluations of recent academic performance.
– Analyses of the primary challenges encountered during the educational process.
Attendees also reviewed future improvement plans, focusing on curriculum development and enhancing teaching and training methodologies to boost student outcomes. Discussions also covered course specifications under the new study plan to ensure strict compliance with quality and academic accreditation standards.
The meeting reviewed ongoing infrastructure projects and the progress of technical and educational equipment upgrades. Leadership emphasized role integration across all departments to guarantee the Faculty’s academic and technical readiness.
Furthermore, attendees stressed the importance of empowering standards coordinators, urging them to redouble efforts in monitoring curriculum implementation to meet upcoming demands.
National expert Dr. Saleh Bahaj presented several key areas regarding academic accreditation requirements. He stressed the importance of adhering to specified timelines, noting that this is critical to fulfilling the standards of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and elevating the Faculty’s global academic standing.
Dean Dr. Mohammed Al-Shehari affirmed that the Faculty is moving forward with a well-studied plan to meet international accreditation criteria, describing this path as a cornerstone for ensuring the quality of medical education.
“Achieving accreditation represents a quantum leap in the Faculty’s journey,” Dr. Al-Shehari stated. “It solidifies our standards of academic excellence and updates our educational programs to keep pace with global developments, ultimately preparing highly qualified medical professionals capable of competing both regionally and internationally.”
He noted that work is rapidly continuing to complete infrastructure projects, modernize curricula, and strengthen the quality system, while actively engaging specialized committees to meet accreditation requirements on schedule.
Dr. Al-Shehari concluded by calling upon all academic and administrative staff to intensify their efforts and work collaboratively, stressing that the current phase requires integrated teamwork to achieve this milestone. Attendees emphasized the need for continuous follow-up and periodic evaluations of progress to resolve any challenges moving forward.
