Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University Reviews Standardizing Evaluation Frameworks and Enhancing Quality System to Regulate Educational Outcomes

SANA’A— Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University convened an expanded academic meeting chaired by the Faculty Dean, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari.
The meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Adel Al-Ghaili, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies; Prof. Ahmed Mujahed, Vice Dean for Quality Assurance; Prof. Arwa Othman, Vice Dean for Student Affairs; alongside Prof. Abdulkarim Al-Obeidi, Member of the Steering Committee; Prof. Saleh Bahaj, National Expert; Mr. Marwan Al-Mekhlafi, Faculty Secretary General; as well as heads of standards committees and specialized faculty members.
The session focused on mechanisms to standardize methodologies regarding the review of institutional standards and required documentation. Attendees discussed structured implementation strategies aimed at building an effective quality assurance system capable of verifying academic performance and measuring educational outcomes based on clear, accredited scientific foundations.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the critical link between academic standards and documentation requirements. Participants emphasized the necessity of adopting continuous review and evaluation methods to elevate institutional efficiency, supporting the Faculty’s ongoing efforts to develop its educational programs in alignment with accreditation benchmarks in higher education. Discussions also addressed modernizing quality and medical education frameworks under the hybrid medical education system, reviewing course and program reports, and drafting an improvement plan for the academic year 1448 AH. Additionally, the committee evaluated laboratory infrastructure, assessed maintenance schedules, and reviewed preparations for the upcoming launch of the Pathological Museum.
In this context, the Faculty Dean, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari, affirmed that the institution is steadily advancing toward strengthening academic quality standards and refining institutional operations. “Sana’a University, represented by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, places the highest priority on quality assurance. It serves as a fundamental pillar for guaranteeing academic excellence and producing graduates capable of meeting the demands of the society and the labor market,” Prof. Al-Shehari stated. “Therefore, standardizing our mechanisms and integrating efforts across various departments and standards committees is essential to maximizing efficiency and effectiveness.”
Prof. Al-Shehari added that the Faculty is actively developing its academic programs and administrative frameworks while updating monitoring and evaluation systems. This aligns with the university’s broader vision of establishing medical and healthcare education rooted in quality, accreditation, and continuous improvement.
For his part, the National Expert, Prof. Saleh Bahaj, noted that the meeting represents a significant step toward embedding a culture of quality assurance within the Faculty. “Unifying the mechanism for discussing required standards and documentation fosters a shared institutional understanding,” Prof. Bahaj explained. “It enhances transparency and precision in application, ensuring that the evaluation process relies on clear, measurable, and verifiable indicators that ultimately elevate the quality of educational outcomes.”
Bahaj added that the quality assurance system extends beyond mere procedural compliance, serving as an integrated framework to enhance performance, track continuous development, and raise the efficiency of academic programs, reflecting positively on the competence of graduates and their service to the community.
This meeting comes as part of the Faculty’s continuous efforts to institutionalize academic quality concepts and elevate coordination between academic leadership and specialized committees. These steps aim to enhance institutional performance, achieve educational excellence, foster integration among diverse standards, and provide an environment conducive to program development, documentation, measurement, and follow-up.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants reaffirmed the importance of maintaining continuous coordination among stakeholders to finalize the review of relevant standards and documents. This will ensure the delivery of a clear executive plan that supports the quality assurance path and empowers the Faculty to achieve its academic and professional objectives.
