Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University Hosts Workshop on Course and Program Reporting to Advance Quality Assurance

SANA’A, July 12, 2026 — Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University recently organized a specialized academic workshop dedicated to evaluating course and academic program reports, outlining strategic improvement plans, and fostering quality assurance and accreditation standards. The event brought together faculty members from various academic departments to institutionalize a culture of continuous assessment and educational development.
The workshop was attended by key university leadership, including Dr. Abdulhafidh Thawabah, University Rector Assistant for Medical Faculties and Hospitals; Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences; and Assoc. Prof. Adel Al-Ghaily, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies, alongside several department chairs and faculty members.
During the session, national expert Prof. Saleh Bahaj delivered a comprehensive scientific presentation detailing the methodology for preparing course and program reports. Dr. Bahaj discussed the analytical mechanisms for evaluating assessment data, aligning outcomes with key performance indicators (KPIs) and targeted student learning outcomes (SLOs), and designing measurable, data-driven improvement plans to ensure sustainable academic progress.
Dr. Bahaj also highlighted global best practices in documenting assessments and tracking the implementation and impact of corrective measures. He emphasized that the success of any academic program relies on an integrated quality cycle—spanning planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement—in accordance with national and international accreditation standards.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Abdulhafidh Thawabah underscored the importance of embedding a quality-driven culture within higher education institutions. He noted that course and program reports serve as essential diagnostic tools to measure learning outcomes, enable curriculum development to meet international accreditation standards, and keep pace with global medical advancements and healthcare sector demands.
In his remarks, Dean Mohammed Al-Shehari emphasized that the faculty views quality assurance as a sustainable institutional commitment rather than a mere administrative procedure. “Reviewing course and program reports is one of our primary tools to evaluate academic performance, identify strengths and opportunities for development, and make evidence-based academic decisions,” Al-Shehari said.
He added that the faculty actively fosters active participation in assessment processes among its teaching staff. The insights gained from this workshop will directly inform curriculum updates, enhance teaching and learning strategies, and modernize assessment methods to align with current academic standards.
Dr. Al-Shehari further explained that Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is systematically advancing its institutional development by upgrading academic programs, enhancing faculty capabilities, and empowering departments to conduct regular peer reviews. This collective effort aims to graduate highly skilled healthcare professionals capable of meeting public health needs and serving the community. He reiterated that institutional success depends on the synergy between administration, academic departments, and faculty.
The workshop concluded with interactive, in-depth panel discussions where faculty members analyzed recent course reports, addressed instructional challenges faced during the academic year, and proposed actionable solutions. Participants reviewed proposed corrective measures for the upcoming academic year aimed at improving teaching methodologies and strengthening student learning outcomes.
Participants concluded the workshop by recommending regular specialized training sessions to exchange academic best practices. They also called for the finalization and documentation of updated course and program reports utilizing approved templates, ensuring rigorous tracking of all educational improvements to solidify the college’s path toward comprehensive quality assurance and excellence.
