The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University began today a scientific workshop entitled “Effective Management of the Curriculum” as part of its strategic plan to achieve leadership in the field of medical and health education locally and regionally.
In the workshop, which lasts for two days, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University, Professor Dr. Khaled Al-Khamisi, indicated that the workshop aims to qualify the academic cadres at the faculty and enable them to implement the effective management program for the curriculum according to the requirements and standards of international academic accreditation that the faculty seeks to obtain in the near future, especially after obtaining national academic accreditation .
Dr. Al-Khamisi stressed the faculty’s keenness to prepare qualified outputs that have the knowledge and skills that keep pace with the needs of society and are committed to the ethics of the profession that enable it to lead in providing quality health services and compete locally and internationally .
He pointed out the importance of the need to establish a quality and academic accreditation unit in all universities to evaluate the curriculum and identify strengths and shortcomings and enhance them with effective management of the course to ensure obtaining quality outputs that keep pace with the technological revolution that has changed many scientific concepts and theories .
In turn, researcher Prof. Dr. Aref Al Hammadi reviewed “The benefits of obtaining academic accreditation for the medicine and surgery program, the importance and necessity”, to ensure the quality of medical education and improve academic achievement, curricula and clinical studies, and international recognition of certificates issued by the university or Faculty, in addition to the compatibility of the quality of outputs with the requirements of the labor market and the needs of the medical community.
While the national expert, Prof. Dr. Saleh Bahaj, and researcher Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mujahid, reviewed the report and contents of the course file, and the job satisfaction scale for faculty members and their assistants at the Faculty of Medicine, according to the educational environment, promotions, incentives and the management system, the degree of satisfaction with the performance of those in charge of the university, the financial situation, relationships with colleagues, and the quality of training services .
The experts also discussed the scale of the quality of the test paper, and the scale of determining the training needs of faculty members at the Faculty of Medicine, according to the educational process, teaching and learning skills, modern strategies in effective teaching, the field of scientific research, educational techniques, administrative skills, quality and academic accreditation, community service, and general skills. The opening of the workshop was attended by the Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance at Sana’a University, Professor Dr. Hoda Al-Imad, the Vice Deans of the Faculty, heads of departments, and faculty members .
