Conclusion of the 36th Scientific Conference for Graduation Research at the Faculty of Medicine, Sana’a University

The 36th Scientific Conference for the discussion of graduation research projects by the 36th cohort of medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Sana’a University, concluded today in Sana’a.
Over the course of five days, the conference reviewed 44 peer-reviewed scientific research papers conducted by 430 male and female students of the Faculty of Medicine. The research was supervised by a distinguished group of consultants, academics, and senior physicians at the university. The studies addressed various health, therapeutic, preventive, and chronic issues and proposed scientifically grounded recommendations and solutions.
At the closing ceremony, the University President, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, congratulated the students on their graduation and the completion of the requirements for the Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery under the current challenging circumstances facing the country.
He emphasized the university’s commitment to continuing its development and modernization efforts, which have led to significant progress despite exceptional conditions. He highlighted that the medical faculties are a top priority in efforts to enhance performance quality in colleges, laboratories, workshops, and maintenance, as well as in providing essential educational materials and resources.
Dr. Al-Bukhaiti also noted the importance of introducing new specialized programs that are in high demand in the labor market, supported by appropriate infrastructure and qualified personnel.
He praised the high-quality research outputs presented at this year’s scientific conference, which reflected the students’ exceptional level and acquired competencies through their work on several community-relevant health issues.
During the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and Chair of the Conference, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Shehari, and the Head of the Department of Community Medicine, Professor Dr. Adel Al-Imad, commended the achievements made in institutional and programmatic accreditation for the Faculty of Medicine in particular, and for the university’s faculties in general. They affirmed continued efforts to enhance the standing of the Faculty and its high-quality academic outputs both locally and regionally.
They stressed the importance of scientific research in providing solutions and interventions for health and development challenges. They highlighted the significance of the 44 research papers discussed at the conference, which addressed preventive and curative diseases, particularly chronic illnesses, as well as psychological, behavioral, occupational health issues, and maternal health conditions.
At the conclusion, the Preparatory Committee and the University Student Forum honored the University President, the Dean of the Faculty, and the Head of the Community Medicine Department with shields and certificates of appreciation. Additionally, department heads, faculty members, the Preparatory Committee, and officials of the University Student Forum at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences were recognized with certificates of appreciation.
The closing ceremony was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Khaled Al-Khamisi; the two Deputy Deans of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Mutahar and Dr. Anwar Al-Mughles; the Head of the Community Medicine Department, Dr. Adel Al-Imad; officials of the University Student Forum and the Preparatory Committee; as well as a number of academics, faculty members, physicians, and students’ families.
