President of Sana’a University Chairs the Regular Meeting of Academic Accreditation Committees at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University held its regular meeting of the academic accreditation committees for the Medicine and Surgery Program this morning. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, President of the University, with the presence of the Faculty’s Dean, several academic leaders, and members of the relevant committees.
At the outset of the meeting, the University President expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Faculty’s administration, academic, and administrative staff to meet the requirements for international academic accreditation from the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting the Faculty in its pursuit of the highest standards of quality and emphasized the importance of adhering to international standards in medical education to ensure the quality of educational outcomes and their alignment with labor market needs and rapid scientific developments.
For his part, Professor Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Shahari, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the University President and attendees. He affirmed the Faculty’s full commitment to implementing quality assurance and academic accreditation standards and continuously developing its educational programs in accordance with best global practices in medical education. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing graduates’ competencies and their service to the community.
The meeting included discussions on several key topics related to the accreditation process, notably the evaluation of current academic programs, a review of progress in implementing accreditation requirements, and proposed mechanisms to expedite the work process and achieve the set objectives within the designated timeline. These efforts aim to enhance both academic and administrative performance within the Faculty.
Professor Dr. Saleh Bahaj, External Coordinator for Academic Accreditation, delivered a detailed presentation highlighting the major achievements accomplished thus far. He confirmed that the significant progress achieved is the result of integrated efforts and fruitful coordination among all working teams and committees. He also expressed his confidence in the Faculty’s ability to meet the required standards and obtain accreditation within the scheduled timeframe.
The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Abdulhafid Thawabah, Vice President of the University for Medical Colleges Affairs; Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Mujahed, Vice Dean for Quality Affairs; Professor Dr. Arwa Othman, Vice Dean for Student Affairs; and Professor Dr. Anwar Al-Mughallis, Vice Dean for Hospital Affairs and Community Service, along with several heads of academic departments, members of the academic standards committees, and faculty members.
It is worth noting that the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University continues to make steady progress toward academic accreditation as part of a comprehensive strategic vision aimed at improving the quality of medical education and enhancing the University’s standing both locally and internationally.
