The 36th Scientific Conference on Graduation Research Begins at the Faculty of Medicine, Sana’a University

On Saturday, April 19, 2025, the 36th Scientific Conference commenced in Sana’a to discuss the graduation research projects of the 36th cohort of male and female students from the Faculty of Medicine at Sana’a University.
Over the span of four days, the conference will feature the presentation of 44 peer-reviewed scientific studies conducted by 430 students from the 36th batch of the Faculty of Medicine. The research projects, supervised by a distinguished group of consultants, academics, and senior physicians at the Faculty, cover a wide array of medical and health-related topics, including therapeutic, preventive, and chronic health issues, aiming to propose evidence-based recommendations and scientific solutions to pressing healthcare challenges.
During the opening ceremony, the Minister of Health and Environment, Dr. Ali Shaiban, expressed his pride in the graduates of the Faculty of Medicine at Sana’a University, commending their achievements, graduation projects, and the competitive quality of their outcomes, which are capable of standing alongside international standards. He congratulated the students on their graduation and successful completion of the requirements for the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery program, especially under the challenging conditions currently facing the country.
Dr. Shaiban praised the quality of the research presented at this year’s conference, which reflects the high level of competence and skills acquired by the students. He highlighted the students’ efforts in conducting research on critical health issues affecting the community, which were implemented across various hospitals, pharmacies, and community settings within the capital, Sana’a.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Shehari, welcomed the attendees, stating that this conference represents a significant step forward in the field of scientific research. He called on other public and private universities to organize similar scientific events and congratulated the students on this achievement. He also welcomed them into the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, describing them as a vital asset for the future of the nation.
The event was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Health and Environment, Dr. Nasher Al-Qaoud. Speeches were delivered by the Vice President of Sana’a University for Hospital Affairs, Dr. Abdul Latif Abu Talib, and the Head of the Community Medicine Department, Dr. Adel Al-Emad. These speeches expressed collective pride in this pioneering scientific event, emphasizing its role in fostering a spirit of academic excellence and competitive research.
The research projects were recognized as a qualitative leap in the university’s scientific output, contributing to its body of research and enhancing its citation index, which plays a role in improving the global ranking of the Faculty.
The speakers also affirmed the resilience, steadfastness, and continued contributions of the Faculty’s graduates in spite of the ongoing aggression and blockade. They highlighted the distinguished research presented at the conference, which encompasses a wide range of issues, including preventive and therapeutic medicine, particularly chronic diseases, mental, behavioral, and occupational health, as well as maternal health conditions.
In a speech on behalf of the graduates, Dr. Saif Al-Mashriqi, along with the scientific coordinator of the conference, Dr. Amjad Aqeel, expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to their academic and clinical training throughout their studies, which has enabled them to reach this milestone and prepare to enter the labor market in service of their community and country.
The opening ceremony was attended by a number of academics and officials from the University Student Forum.
