Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Al-Qasim Abbas, the President of the University, a workshop titled “Reviewing the Labor Market and Updating the Formulation and Objectives of the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery Program” was conducted at the Faculty of Meعdicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University.
The workshop started at 9:00 am and was led by Professor Dr. Khaled Al-Khamesy, the Dean of the Faculty, and Professor Dr. Saleh Bahaj, a member of the Steering Committee at the Faculty. The workshop consisted of two main parts: the first one focused on reviewing the labor market, while the second one addressed the formulation and updating of the program’s mission and objectives.
The workshop targeted the following groups:
1. Employers
2. Program leadership and faculty members
3. Assistant faculty members
4. Program graduates
5. Administrative staff
At the end of the workshop, several important recommendations were reached to enhance the quality of the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery program and align it with the needs of the labor market. Among these recommendations, there was an emphasis on promoting close collaboration between the university and healthcare institutions to ensure high-quality practical training for students, enhancing scientific research and innovation in the field of medicine and surgery, and improving the learning and teaching environment at the university.
It is expected that Faculty will follow the recommended guidelines from the workshop and work on updating the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery program to align it with the current and future needs of the labor market. These efforts reflect the university’s strong commitment to providing excellent medical education and preparing graduates to face challenges and meet the needs of the medical community in Yemen.
