Department Mission

Developing scientific competencies in agricultural economics through outstanding programs that meet the requirements of the labor market, research dissemination, and solving agricultural economic problems.

Department Vision

Providing education that adheres to high-quality standards and academic accreditation for its graduates and conducting scientific research and field studies, utilizing the outcomes to address and resolve agricultural economic problems within Yemen and the surrounding region.

Department Aims:

  • Meeting the needs of society by offering competitive and leading programs in economic and extension sciences.
  • Promoting education, learning, and the dissemination of agricultural research by creating a supportive academic environment.
  • Preparing locally and regionally pioneering cadres in the field of agricultural economics and extension.
  • Networking with the public and private sectors and providing necessary consultations to enhance agricultural economics.
  • Supporting and developing students’ ideas for conducting research and encouraging them to pursue higher studies.
  • Conducting technical, financial, and economic feasibility studies for agricultural projects of various types.
  • Conducting economic, marketing, and financing studies according to the department’s and other departments’ needs.

Graduate Attributes:

  • In addition to the attributes featured in the graduates of the faculty in general, the graduates of this department will be able to:
  • Monitor and evaluate agricultural projects and feasibility studies.
  • Manage, plan, and evaluate agricultural projects and extension programs.
  • Contribute to the implementation of agricultural extension programs and campaigns and the development of women and rural communities.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of agricultural and economic data to develop and improve the agricultural sector.
  • Continue to learn and pursue studies and research in their field of specialization.

Program Aims:

  • Equipping graduates with the cognitive and practical skills to study society’s economic needs and forecast their potential repercussions.
  • Utilizing resources for managing agricultural facilities and projects, as well as preserving natural resources and biodiversity.
  • Enhancing professional performance, adhering to work ethics, and raising awareness of legal and social issues related to agriculture.
  • Developing communication, self-learning, time management, and appropriate technology utilization skills to address technical and economic problems in agricultural fields and make informed decisions.
