The Department of Horticulture and its Technologies at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment, Sana’a University, hosted the second public discussion of Younis Ahmed Hassan Humid’s master’s thesis research.
During the seminar, the researcher provided a comprehensive overview of the tools and materials used in his study and presented the key findings of his thesis, titled:
” Edaphic-Climatic Factors, Morphological Features of Yemeni Thyme ( Thymus laevigatus ), and the Effect of Its Extracts on Stored Potatoes.”
He introduced the thyme plant, highlighting its nutritional significance, medicinal applications, and economic potential. He then outlined the research methodology before presenting his most significant findings.
The results were structured into three core sections:
1. Environmental Analysis: Key findings from soil sample analyses and a climatic study conducted across five regions.
2. Morphological Characterization: Detailed assessment of the growth patterns and morphological traits of Yemeni thyme.
3. Functional Impact: Evaluation of the effects of thyme extracts on the quality and shelf life of potatoes.
Following the presentation, faculty members and attendees engaged in a rigorous scientific discussion, analyzing the study’s methodology, findings, and implications. The session provided valuable critical insights, constructive feedback, and expert recommendations.
This seminar represents a pivotal step in the research process, as departmental approval of the findings is a prerequisite for the final public thesis defense. Based on this discussion, the thesis evaluation committee will be appointed.
The event was attended by the department head, esteemed faculty members, and graduate students, fostering a dynamic academic environment marked by intellectual engagement and scholarly debate.
