The Department of Food Sciences and Nutrition at the Faculty of Agriculture, Sana’a University, organized a scientific visit for fourth-level students in the department to the factories of Hael Saeed Anam and Partners – Al-Hawban, Taiz (Industry and Trade and the Yemeni Company for Diversified Industries), the oldest and largest food manufacturing companies in Yemen, on Thursday, 1/30/2025 AD, to view the factory’s production lines and the manufacturing processes of food products in a field visit within the extracurricular scientific activities for the current academic year, organized by the college in coordination with the General Administration of Youth Care at the university.
The students and the supervisory committee for the visit were received by the company’s management representative, Mr. Amin Al-Adini, who welcomed everyone and gave the students a brief overview of the company’s establishment and an idea about its activities, and also gave some advice and guidance to the students regarding safety and security. This is to alert and warn students of the risks, to avoid their occurrence, during their visit to the factories and company departments. Prof. Dr. Galal Fadl, Head of the Department, stressed the importance of practical applications represented by these visits, such as laboratory applications in some subjects, in order to link the theoretical aspect with the practical aspect and increase students’ focus on the curriculum and link it to the labor market. The scientific visit aimed to link the theoretical foundations of some course topics with the practical reality related to the various manufacturing steps and following quality systems in production. The Head of the Department also thanked and appreciated the factory management for the warm reception and welcome of the students, their cooperation and providing the necessary facilities to make the visit a success and their readiness to participate in the community and serve the students, as it is a moral and national duty entrusted to all institutions.
The college attaches great importance to extracurricular scientific activities, which are an important tributary to the student’s understanding and skill level, and help him to become familiar with the aspects of work in his specialization, and help him to understand and comprehend, and acquire the skill to excel in the labor market.
On the other hand, this day is considered an exceptional day full of passion and discovery, as the scientific journey started from Sana’a University to the factories of Hayel Saeed Anam (Taiz – Al-Hawban) where science stands side by side with creativity, and where the simplest raw materials are transformed into food products that feed millions. It was not just a visit, but an open window to a world that pulsates with movement, precision and quality.
From inside the Yemeni Company for Industry and Trade, everyone stood in front of the production lines of Digestive, Mary, Abu_Walad, Bobarbon, Sanabel, Hilal, and Yamali wafers. We watched how the ingredients were transformed into golden pieces of biscuits, fragrant with the scent of perfection. Then we moved to the Diversified Industries and Packaging Materials Company, where we learned how to make pasta, vermicelli, Nodi, Nojoom Chocolate, Roxy, and the Sindbad family, and how magic is woven within the production lines of halva, tahini, and Shaklet_Bingo, all the way to the Tarzan production line, where the artistic painting of an industry that does not know how to stop is completed.
Every moment of this journey was a living lesson, and every step was a story about quality, technology, and creativity. Between the roar of the machines and the shine of the production lines, we realized that the food industry is not just a mechanical process, but an art, science, and a long story of precision and passion.
Colleagues and fellow students from the Department of Food Sciences and Nutrition, under the supervision of the honorable professors Dr. Abdul Majeed Bajash, Dr. Jalal Fadl, and Mr. Hilmi Al-Qudsi, accompanied us on this visit, which was not just a trip and a visit to a factory, but a journey towards the future, towards a deeper understanding of the industry that the department’s graduates will be part of one day.
This is how expertise is made, this is how science turns into reality, and this is how success stories begin.
