Wednesday, 13 Sha’ban 1446 AH (February 12, 2025 AD).
During the session, the researcher presented a detailed overview of her Master’s thesis, titled: “Effect of Plant Biostimulants on Germination of Some Local Chili Pepper Genotypes under Salinity Stress and Seedling Quality ,” under the supervision of Dr. ISAM AL-MADHAGI, Associate Professor of Vegetable Physiology.
In her presentation, the researcher discussed the study’s tools and materials, key findings, significance, research problem, methodology, previous studies, main objectives, and experimental procedures.
She reviewed the results obtained through a series of laboratory experiments and nursery trials, focusing on four main aspects:
• Classification of local chili pepper genotypes into four groups based on their resistance to salinity stress.
• The role of plant biostimulants in enhancing seed germination under salinity stress conditions.
• The potential effects of biostimulants (individually or in combination) in mitigating salinity stress on seedling growth.
• The impact of plant biostimulants on chili pepper seedling quality.
The researcher emphasized that, given the current challenges in the country, plant biostimulants provide a sustainable, safe, and cost-effective solution to mitigate salinity stress, particularly at higher levels.
Following the presentation, the department members and attendees engaged in an in-depth scientific discussion, offering observations and recommendations.
This session (Discussion 2) is a key requirement for departmental approval of the study’s results before the final thesis defense, during which an examination and evaluation committee will be formed.
The session was attended by the department head, faculty members, the integrity committee, and several graduate students, creating an interactive academic atmosphere filled with insightful discussions and constructive feedback.
