Public Seminar Held to Present Master’s Thesis Proposal of Ms. Suhaileh Ali Hamoud Al-Madhwahi
Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment – Sana’a University held a public seminar this morning, Monday, Dhu al-Qa’dah 21, 1446 Hijri, corresponding to May 19, 2025, to discuss (Seminar No. 1) the MA. thesis proposal submitted by Ms. Suhaileh Ali Hamoud Al-Madhwahi for her thesis entitled:
“Formulation and Evaluation of Children’s Food Products Based on Fortified Cereals and Legumes with Moringa”
During the seminar session, the researcher presented a comprehensive overview of her research plan, addressing the research title, the research problem, and the benefits of research findings that have examined fortification with Moringa leaves. These studies have demonstrated Moringa’s richness in complete protein and numerous vitamins and minerals that many Yemeni children suffer from a deficiency in their diets, especially during early growth stages such as infancy and childhood. Furthermore, the completion of such research will contribute to the production of food for this segment of the population, thereby reducing the reliance on imported supplementary foods. The student also explained the methodology, the main and sub-objectives of the research, and the materials and methods that will be followed to implement her scientific study.
Committee Members and attendees interacted by discussing the research title and plan from their respective scientific perspectives. They provided their necessary and essential comments and recommendations to improve the research plan and its implementation, ensuring that the desired outcomes of this study are achieved.
At the end of the session, the plan was approved with some guidance recommended for consideration during the research implementation.
Seminar No. (1) is considered one of the most important requirements that the student must pass to obtain the department’s approval for her research proposal before commencing implementation. At a later stage, the student will hold a second public session (Seminar No. 2) to present her research findings in order to obtain the department’s approval of the results. Subsequently, the discussion and viva-voce committee will be formed to publicly discuss the thesis in the final session.
The session was attended by the head and faculty members of the department, along with a number of members of the faculty’s integrity committee and a number of graduate students in the faculty, in a scientific atmosphere characterized by positive interaction and academic enrichment.
