The Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Sana’a University, held Seminar 1 for Mr. Hilmi Mohammed Hasan Al-Qadasi, to discuss his MA. thesis plan. This seminar is a crucial component of his master’s degree requirements.
Mr. Al-Qadasi presented his thesis proposal titled: “Study on the Efficacy of Aromatic Lavender in Improving the Quality and Shelf-Life of Pasteurized Milk and Yoghurt from Local Dairy Farms.”
During the session, the student delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining his thesis plan. He detailed the thesis title, problem statement, significance of the thesis, methodology, and a review of previous studies. He also clearly articulated his primary and secondary objectives, study samples, and the materials and methods he intends to employ in his scientific investigation.
The proposed study methods will examine the effectiveness of aromatic lavender in enhancing the quality and shelf-life of pasteurized milk and yoghurt produced by local farms, through physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses. Additionally, the presentation covered the economic importance and safety aspects of healthy dairy products.
Faculty members and attendees actively engaged in the presentation of the thesis title, the proposed plan, and the methodologies. They provided valuable feedback and essential recommendations to ensure the successful completion of the thesis and the achievement of the desired outcomes.
Seminar 1 is a vital prerequisite for students to gain departmental and faculty approval for their research plan, including the materials and methods to be used, to ensure the acquisition of accurate results that meet research requirements.
The session was attended by the Head and faculty members of the department, some members of the Faculty’s Rigour Committee, and a number of postgraduate students. The atmosphere was highly academic, characterized by positive interaction and intellectual enrichment.
