- Categories news
- Date January 3, 2026

Students from the Department of Horticulture have commenced the tilling and leveling of two raised beds within a campus greenhouse, as part of their curriculum’s practical requirements.
This essential step aims to prepare the soil for strawberry cultivation by improving soil structure and porosity, ensuring optimal aeration and the balanced distribution of moisture and nutrients. In addition, precise leveling of the beds facilitates irrigation efficiency and minimises water loss.
This activity reflects the Department’s commitment to enhancing students’ practical skills and bridging the gap between theory and field experience. By engaging directly with modern agricultural techniques and plant production, students are better prepared for the professional requirements of the contemporary agricultural labour market.
