Dean's message
Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment, having highly qualified teaching staff with distinctive academic expertise, seeks to prepare professionally trained graduates capable of implementing the Government’s strategic plans for raising agricultural products and securing food self-sufficiency based on development and labor market needs.
With the kind support of the University Rector professor, Al-Qassim Mohammed Abass, the Faculty has witnessed, for the first time in history, a major academic upgrading to its educational programs with adjustments in course specifications to meet emerging developments in all agricultural areas. In addition to this great achievement, automation system was introduced in the administration of students’ affairs to provide automatic control of semester-end exams in accordance with the latest changes in the automation of educational institutions.
For advancing and improving the practical applications of students’ theoretical knowledge, the Faculty is rehabilitating its educational farm and providing the required operational equipment for the development of the laboratories in the Faculty departments. We are also working on updating teaching materials and means for improving graduates’ competencies and thereby ensuring international academic quality Accreditation and Standards.
The best way that may cause institutions of agriculture education to play a fundamental role in agriculture revival is linking agriculture education to official sector plans, private sector investment, and community partnership. Thus, the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment seeks to establish close ties with all private and official agricultural sectors and NGOs through studying and addressing the problems faced by the public sector in Bachelor and Graduate research studies. The Faculty also strives to develop strong partnerships with the private sector institutions through addressing their needs of specialized staff. As for the community, the Faculty significantly contributes to strengthening the role of the society in the agricultural revival by encouraging students to participate actively in joint social initiatives with the national NGOs. In short, improving the quality of our Faculty outcomes requires us to be more concerned about the quality of practical training. This can be achieved by providing the necessary facilities and students’ participation in production of educational farm units. Which is similar to what happened in other high standard level international universities through “Scientific Gardens”.
The developments led by the University Rector are reflected in the position of Sana’a University in the list of World University Rankings that indicates the evolution of Sana’a University and the progress it makes to achieve higher ranks.
