GDRSC Conducts Introductory Workshop on Concepts Related to the Ph.D. Program and Research and Publication Mechanisms in Peer-Reviewed Journals
Under the patronage of the University President, the Gender Development Research and Studies Center held an introductory workshop on Saturday and Sunday, November 6-7, 2021, including several lectures on concepts related to international development and gender studies and on preparing and guiding researchers for scientific publication. The workshop was attended by 54 students enrolled in the first batch of the Ph.D. program specializing in International Development and Gender Studies.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Ghalib Al-Qanis, Deputy Minister of Higher Education; Professor Mohammed Al-Khalid, President of Hajja University; Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research; Dr. Zaid Al-Warith, Vice President for Centers Affairs, along with several center directors, academics, Ph.D. students, and interested master’s students.
It is worth mentioning that the Master’s and Ph.D. programs specializing in International Development and Gender Studies at the Gender Development Research and Studies Center are among the first programs of their kind addressing development and gender issues at the local and regional levels.
At the beginning of the first day, the workshop was inaugurated with a speech by the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, emphasizing the importance of this workshop in guiding researchers on the right path. He also praised the efforts of the center’s administration in developing and expanding its programs. Dr. Halima Jahaf, the Center’s Director, welcomed all the students and attendees, highlighting the center’s establishment, objectives, departments, and programs.
Dr. Khaled Al-Hassani then presented the stages of preparing and publishing research in peer-reviewed journals and how to prepare research to meet the publication standards of scientific journals.
On the second day, Dr. Antelak Al-Mutawakkil delivered a lecture on gender and the importance of focusing on gender issues during the research process and integrating them into the research studies.
Dr. Khaled Al-Akwa lectured on the concept and issues of development, as well as how to address these concepts in scientific research preparation.
Dr. Abdulwahab Abdulqader discussed how to prepare research titles and studies that address issues of international development and gender studies, highlighting critical studies and research conducted by Master’s students at the center.
The workshop concluded with a lecture by Dr. Saleh Humaid, Deputy Director of the Center, on research methodologies, reviewing the tools, stages, and aspects related to preparing scientific research.
The workshop concluded with a speech by Dr. Ghalib Al-Qanis, who praised this initiative as the first of many workshops in this field. He also expressed his support and commitment to assisting the center’s administration and its members in elevating the work of these active centers.
