About the Library
The Library and Documentation Department of the Inclusive Development Research Center, formerly known as the Gender Development Research and Studies Center, was established to serve as a research library for faculty members and postgraduate students at the center. It also extends its support to undergraduate and postgraduate students from Sana’a University and other universities.
Library Staff
The library is managed by qualified personnel who have received training in various aspects of library and information science in more than six regional, Arab, and international countries. Notably, it is the first Yemeni library to have an electronic catalog (OPAC) available online and serves as a training center for Yemeni libraries on the application of automated systems for libraries and information centers.
The Library features
Equipped with 20 computers, a server, and an internet connection, the library provides electronic access to its visitors. It also offers training to researchers and students on how to search specialized databases, as well as how to use search engines and library catalogs available online.
The library uses the MARC12 format for machine-readable cataloging, a standardized system used by global libraries for cataloging records. All library materials have been electronically cataloged and RFID-tagged to manage the digital tracking of materials entering and leaving the library.
The library has been supported by the Copenhagen Kivinfo Foundation with modern library tools, specialized electronic software, and staff training. In 2019, the library was updated with 106 new English-language titles and 59 new Arabic-language titles, featuring the latest publications.
The library offers various services such as library database management, a reading room for silent study, an electronic library with internet access, photocopying and printing services for a nominal fee, and reference services for postgraduate students and faculty members. Additionally, it provides automated reference service through “Ask Librarian.”
Borrowing privileges are available for internal and external members, including faculty members, postgraduate students, undergraduate students, researchers, and staff affiliated with the center and Sana’a University.
