Program Overview
The PhD program in Population Studies aims to prepare highly qualified research professionals capable of analyzing complex population issues from a multidisciplinary scientific perspective and producing applied knowledge that contributes to supporting population policies and sound development decision-making. The program also seeks to develop researchers capable of leading academic and research work in the fields of population and development, thereby strengthening the capacity of national institutions to address current population challenges. Design and conduct population studies using quantitative and qualitative methodologies and appropriate statistical analysis tools.
Produce innovative scientific research that contributes to the development of theoretical and applied population knowledge and provides solutions to social and economic problems.
Evaluate population policies and programs and analyze their impact on sustainable development issues.
Engage in collaborative research and actively participate in multidisciplinary research teams, both locally and internationally.

Graduate specifications:
Possesses in-depth knowledge of population concepts and theories, and analyzes population changes and phenomena within local and global contexts, linking them to economic, social, cultural, and environmental dimensions.
Applies scientific and statistical methods to analyze population problems and develops scientific solutions that address developmental challenges.
Designs and implements population policies, programs, and projects, and conducts objective evaluations of their impact and effectiveness.
Professionally utilizes quantitative and qualitative research tools, statistical software, and modern information technologies to prepare scientific reports and provide technical consultations on population issues.
Communicates effectively, works efficiently within and leads multidisciplinary teams, adheres to research ethics and social responsibility, and contributes to achieving sustainable development.
Registration Requirements / Selection Policy / Transfer Policy:
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Population Studies from a Yemeni university or a recognized university, with a minimum overall grade of “Good.”
Students must prepare two research papers, one to be published in a local journal and the other in an international journal.
Students must prepare a doctoral dissertation on a topic within Population Studies, in accordance with established academic standards.
The maximum timeframe for completing the program requirements is four years.
Applicants are subject to all regulations and requirements governing postgraduate studies at Sana’a University, specifically those pertaining to doctoral programs.
