The Higher Committee for Scientific Research at Sana’a University held its 3rd regular meeting for the 2025–2026 academic year on Monday, chaired by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Committee Chairperson, Prof. Ibrahim Al-Muta’a, in the presence of committee members.
At the outset, Prof. Al-Muta’a welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of sustaining efforts to advance the university’s research system and enhance the quality of its outputs in line with international academic standards, while contributing to community development.
During the meeting, the committee attended a scientific seminar delivered by researcher Ward Mansour Al-Ward, who presented key findings from his research published in the global Scopus database. The study, titled “Health Conditions in Yemen during the Mutawakkilite Era (1911–1962): A Historical Study of the Interplay between Traditional and Modern Medicine,” was submitted as part of his application for appointment as a teaching assistant in the Faculty of Arts, Department of History.
The seminar featured an in-depth academic discussion, attended by Prof. Mahmoud Al-Shaabi as the designated examiner, where participants highlighted the study’s contribution to understanding historical transformations in Yemen’s healthcare landscape and the interaction between traditional and modern medical practices and their societal impact.
The committee commended the quality of the research, stressing the importance of encouraging historical studies that address health and social issues, given their role in enriching academic knowledge and offering analytical insights valuable to researchers and policymakers.
In addition, the committee reviewed several applications submitted by faculty members for scientific publication incentives as part of the university’s policy to encourage publishing in peer-reviewed and internationally indexed journals.
Following deliberations, the committee approved publication awards for five faculty members, in recognition of their research contributions and their role in enhancing the academic standing and international visibility of Sana’a University.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the committee reaffirmed the university leadership’s commitment to supporting scientific research as a cornerstone of academic development and excellence. It also emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between faculties and research centers to further elevate the university’s regional and international profile.
