Master’s Degree Awarded to Researcher Somaya Mohammed Jibran in Science Curriculum and Teaching Methods
Researcher Somaya Mohammed Jibran Al-Ghamri was awarded a Master’s Degree in Science Curriculum and Teaching Methods with an average of excellent and a grade of (95%) for her thesis titled: The Effect of Different Types of WebQuests on Cognitive Achievement and Reflective Thinking in Science among Seventh-Grade Female Students in the Capital Secretariat, Sana’a, which was submitted to the Department of Educational Technology, Faculty of Education – Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
• Assoc. Prof. Abdulbasit Saeed Al-Faqih – Taiz University – External Examiner and Committee Chair.
• Assoc. Prof. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Nuwaihi – Sana’a University – Principal Supervisor and Committee Member.
• Assist. Prof. Ali Mohammed Al-Adeeb – Sana’a University – Internal Examiner and Committee Member.
The thesis aimed to investigate the effect of two types of WebQuests—short-term and long-term—on cognitive achievement and reflective thinking in science among seventh-grade female students in Amanat Al-Asimah, Sana’a.
The study results showed that both short-term and long-term WebQuests had a positive effect on developing cognitive achievement and reflective thinking skills among the participants in the two experimental groups.
The researcher recommended using WebQuests as one of the methods for teaching science, given their role in improving learners’ thinking processes and developing their cognitive achievement. The thesis defense was attended by faculty members, researchers, students, and interested participants as well as the researcher’s colleagues and family members.
