Field Visits of the External Review Teams of the Council of Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education (CAQA) for Institutional and Program Accreditation at Sana’a University Conclude with Pharmacy Program Assessment

Following the completion of nearly 14 field visits by external review teams for the institutional and program accreditation of Sana’a University’s faculties and programs—which began on December 22, 2024, and continued over 19 consecutive days—the external review team for the program accreditation of the Pharmacy Program at Sana’a University concluded its visit today. This marked the final field visit by the external review teams for institutional and program accreditation.

During the visit, the team conducted a field assessment, which included numerous meetings and interviews with representatives of academic standards. They also inspected facilities, laboratories, equipment, classrooms, lecture halls, control rooms, and student activity spaces to verify evidence and documentation in accordance with the academic standards manual.

At the conclusion of the visit, Prof. Abdulaziz Al-Shuaibi, Deputy Chairman of CAQA, emphasized the importance of Yemeni universities striving to enhance the quality of the educational process and achieving program or institutional accreditation for their faculties and programs. He noted that while the world is racing to develop modern educational systems, Yemen has significantly lagged in this field due to the challenging circumstances the country has endured.

Prof. Abdulaziz Al-Shuaibi also urged universities to seize this opportunity and collaborate with CAQA to ensure their graduates are well-prepared for the job market. He highlighted CAQA’s aspirations for the Faculty of Pharmacy and stressed the importance of maximizing the benefits of this visit. He further emphasized that Sana’a University, as the flagship institution, possesses the infrastructure and academic expertise necessary to compete both regionally and internationally.

Professor Al-Shuaibi expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation for the diligent efforts of the review team, under the leadership of Dr. Salah Abdullah Wajih Al-Din, and including Mr. Abduljabbar Ahmed Azzi Faqih and Dr. Ahmed Ghalib Saif Al-Mikhalfi. He also acknowledged the valuable contributions of the expert committee members: Professor Noman Fairouz, CAQA member; Dr. Huda Al-Sanhani, Director General of Accreditation; Mr. Nasr Madar, Legal Advisor; Dr. Hussein Hanash, Director General of Review at CAQA; Mr. Ramzi Al-Sarhi; and Mr. Tawfiq Al-Kibari. Furthermore, he extended his thanks to the leadership of Sana’a University, represented by its Rector, Professor Al-Kasem Mohammed Abass, as well as to the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, the faculty’s deputies, and its members.
On another note, Prof. Mohammed Dhaifullah, CAQA Secretary-General, reviewed the procedures and importance of academic accreditation, the difference between institutional and program accreditation, and the efforts made by CAQA since August until now.
During the meeting, attended by Prof. Huda Al-Emad, Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Dr. Huda Al-Sanhani, Director General of Accreditation, outlined the procedures and steps for the program accreditation process, from the signing of the agreement to the visit.
Meanwhile, Dr. Salah Wajih Al-Din, head of the Review team, presented the field visit plan, the procedures carried out by the team, and the key strengths and weaknesses of the program.
The meeting was attended by the Dean, Vice Deans, faculty members, and students.
