Special Meeting at Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance

Sunday, June 22, 2025‎

A special meeting was held today at the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance ‎‎(CAQA) with participation of deputy deans for quality and members of the CAQA under the leadership ‎of CAQA’s Dean, Prof. Huda Ali Al-Emad. ‎
The meeting addressed a range of topics aimed at advancing the educational and research process and ‎improving the university’s rankings in regional and international university ranking platforms at the levels ‎of research, academic affairs, and community service.‎
Prof. Al-Emad praised the efforts of the quality deputy deans, highlighting their significant contributions ‎to Sana’a University’s achievement of advanced standing and competitiveness among regional and ‎international institutions. ‎
During the meeting, participants reviewed a number of proposals, mechanisms, and regulations to enhance ‎publication of academic research, particularly in databases such as Google Scholar, Scopus, and other ‎reputable research platforms. Key proposals included:‎
• Organizing scientific conferences at each college to discuss and present undergraduate students’ ‎graduation projects.‎
• Requiring postgraduate (M.A and Ph.D.) students to publish their approved researches in ‎accordance with academic promotion regulations.‎
• Submitting proposals to include Sana’a University journals in the Arab Citation & Impact ‎Factor (ARCIF) and other regional and international journal indexing databases.‎
• Following up and monitoring M.A and PhD students’ publication of their researches by Deputy ‎Deans for Graduate Studies; and evaluating the progress achieved by Deputy Deans for Quality, ‎in accordance with the mandates of the relevant specialized bodies.‎
• Proposing the assignment of multiple supervisors for theses, particularly in scientific disciplines.‎
• Identifying field needs of research based on insights from trainees in previous training courses. In ‎this regard, the General Administration of ‎Scientific Research should focus its training programs ‎on scientific research. It should ‎leverage the expertise of university personnel specialized and ‎experienced in research ‎training, including CAQA’s members, Quality Deputies, and faculty ‎members from various colleges. The aim of this step is to improve ‎researchers’ methodological ‎competence.‎
