External Review Team of the Council of Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education (CAQA) Conducts a Field Visit to the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Sana’a University, to Review its Sharia and Law Program

This morning, the External Review Team of the Council for Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education (CAQA) conducted an on-site visit to assess the Law program at Sana’a University as part of the sequential steps required for program accreditation.

An initial meeting was held with Prof. Al-Kasem Mohammed Abass, Rector of Sana’a University. Attendees included Prof. Abdulaziz Al-Shuaibi, Deputy Chairman of CAQA; Prof. Mohammad Dhaifullah, Secretary-General of CAQA; Prof. Abdulrahman Al-Saafani, Head of the Expert Team; Prof. Mohammad Al-Harazi, Head of the External Review Team; and other team members. Also present were Prof. Ibrahim Al-Muta’a, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs; Prof. Mohammad Shukri, Vice Rector for Student Affairs; Prof. Huda Ali Al-Emad, Dean of the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance and Assistant Vice Rector for Graduate Studies; Prof. Mohammad Saad Nijad, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law; Dr. Mohammad Al-Mahbashi, Vice Dean for Quality Assurance; Dr. Ismail Al-Wadhaf, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies; Dr. Abdulkhaliq Mizab, Vice Dean for Student Affairs; and Mr. Bassam Abdo Saif, Faculty Secretary-General and Assistant Vice Dean for Quality Assurance.

The meeting began with a welcome speech by Prof. Al-Kasem Mohammed Abass, Rector of Sana’a University, who emphasized that the evaluation was the result of efforts made over the past five years. He appreciated the efforts of CAQA, the review team, the Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, and the team from the Faculty of Sharia and Law.

Prof. Al-Shuaibi highlighted the importance of the field visit and the procedures undertaken by CAQA beforehand, including reviewing and analyzing the documents submitted by the university and finalizing the preliminary report, which was submitted to the CAQA’s leadership.

Prof. Mohammad Dhaifullah, Secretary-General of the CAQA, noted that Sana’a University has been actively working to obtain program and institutional accreditation for its academic programs and faculties. The Sharia and Law program is the third program to undergo this process, following the accreditation of the Medicine and Surgery program and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program.

Prof. Mohammed Al-Harazi then presented the visit schedule and outlined the procedures the team will undertake over the three-day visit, which includes conducting meetings and assessing the program’s infrastructure.

It is worth noting that the visit will continue for three consecutive days, during which the team will examine the program’s evidence and documentation, ensuring they align with on-ground realities in accordance with program standards and a detailed timeline.
