CAQA: Field Visit of the External Review Team for Institutional Accreditation to Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Mass Communication at Sana’a University

Under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Hasan Al-Saadi, Minister of Education and Scientific Research, and as a continuation of the process of obtaining institutional accreditation for the faculties of Sana’a University, the Council of Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education conducted a field visit for the external review teams for institutional accreditation of the Faculties of Engineering and Information at Sana’a University.
The visit aimed to review the evidence and documentation of the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Mass Communication, for which Sana’a University has applied for institutional accreditation within the agreement signed with the Council at the beginning of December 2024.
The external review team, headed by Dr. Youssef Salman Saad Mohammed Al-Jaadi, and with the membership of Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Abdullah Al-Akwaa, Professor Hasan Abdullah Yahya Dajrah, and Professor Muneer Saeed Mohammed Al-Humairi, and the assisting committee headed by Professor Fadhl Al-Wusabi, a member of the Council, and with the membership of Dr. Hussein Hanash and Professor Elham Al-Matari, visited the faculty.
At the beginning of the visit, a small meeting was held in the presence of Professor Ahmed Ghalib Al-Huboub, CAQA Chairman, Professor Abdulaziz Al-Shuaibi, Vice Chairman of the Council, Professor Ibrahim Al-Mutaa, Vice Rector of Sana’a University, Dr. Mohammed Dhaifullah, the Secretary-General, the Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance Professor Huda Al-Emad, and the Dean of the Faculty of Information Dr. Omar Daer and the Vice Deans, where the visit plan and the procedures that the team will carry out during the four days of the visit were reviewed.
Dr. Al-Huboub confirmed that the university was able to take the second step for its faculties to obtain institutional accreditation after obtaining programmatic accreditation for the Medicine and Surgery programs and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and this indicates that the university is working strongly to develop the educational process, improve it, and work in cooperation with the CAQA to ensure the application and development of quality.
The Vice Rector of the University and the Dean of the Faculty of Information welcomed the team that visited the faculty, expressing their happiness in receiving the team that visited the faculty after years of efforts made by the university and the faculty.
The team also started to implement the visit plan, which began with holding many meetings and interviews and visiting some of the faculty’s facilities on the first day. The external review team for the Faculty of Engineering was headed by Professor Saleh Alawi Ahmed Al-Sanabani, Professor Rashid Mohammed Abdullah Al-Sanafi, Professor Ahmed Mohammed Yafa’a, and Professor Noman Mohammed Ahmed Amer, while the committee of experts was headed by Professor Ali Al-Azki and with the membership of Dr. Huda Al-Sanhani. The team began by holding a meeting headed by Professor Abdulaziz Al-Shuaibi with the deanship of the faculty, in which he stressed that the Council had begun two weeks ago to implement field visits for external review teams for institutional accreditation of the faculties of Sana’a University, which is considered the seventh visit to the Faculty of Engineering, and if it is added to the university’s record, which has worked to request institutional accreditation for its faculties, it will be the first university in Yemen to obtain institutional and programmatic accreditation, calling on the rest of the universities to work on developing their faculties and programs, especially since the world today is competing in developing modern skills for education.
The head of the team also reviewed the field visit plan and the procedures that the team will carry out during the four days, after which the team began implementing the visit plan, which held many meetings and interviews with representatives of academic standards, and at the end of the day, the team visited the faculty’s facilities and laboratories.

It is worth noting that the teams for the two faculties will continue for four days, during which the visit plan prepared by the Council will be implemented, which includes visiting the facilities and equipment of the faculties.
