As part of its efforts to integrate technology into medical education, the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences at the University of Sana’a has launched a specialized e-learning platform for students enrolled in prosthetics and orthotics centers across Yemen.
The platform offers online access to lectures and direct interaction with faculty, helping bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, particularly for students in remote or underserved areas.
Promising Early Results: An initial survey revealed that 85% of students praised the ease of accessing course content, although some reported minor connectivity issues. Many students highlighted that the platform helped them apply theoretical knowledge to real-life cases they encounter in prosthetic centers.
Courses on Healthcare Quality:
Dr. Khaled Al-Khamisi has begun teaching a course on Principles of Total Quality Management in Healthcare, with a focus on prosthetic services. He emphasized the success of the digital education model, particularly for students working in centers or residing in distant provinces.
Expansion Plans and International Cooperation:
The college plans to expand the platform to include other specialties such as physiotherapy and radiology, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to support field training. The university is also working toward international accreditation of its medical programs to boost graduate competitiveness both locally and regionally.
This initiative reflects Sana’a University’s commitment to staying at the forefront of global trends in applied medical education and empowering Yemeni healthcare professionals
