PhD Degree Awarded to Researcher Abdulhakim Mohammed Hassan Al-Sharfi in Business Administration

Researcher Abdulhakim Mohammed Hassan Al-Sharafi was awarded a PhD degree in Business Administration, conducted in English, by the Business Administration Center for Graduate Studies at Sana’a University for his dissertation titled: “The Interactive Effect of Strategic Leadership and Strategic Management on Organizational Performance (A Field Study at the Yemeni Banking Sector).”

The PhD Viva-Voce Committee consisted of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdulrazzaq Mohammed Al-Marani, Sana’a University, as Internal Examiner and Chair; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ashwal, Al-Bayda University, as External Examiner and Member; and Prof. Dr. Sinan Ghaleb Al-Marhadi, Sana’a University, as Supervisor and Member.

The dissertation aimed to examine the interactive effect of strategic leadership and strategic management on organizational performance in the Yemeni banking sector, and to provide empirical evidence on how the integration of these two strategic variables can contribute to improving organizational performance in an environment characterized by complex economic, organizational, and operational challenges.

The study found that the interaction between strategic leadership and strategic management has a positive and statistically significant effect on organizational performance. The findings emphasized that improving organizational performance cannot be achieved effectively by relying on strategic leadership and strategic management independently, but rather through an integrated strategic approach based on the interaction between the two.

The Viva-Voce Committee commended the dissertation for its scientific contribution and originality, describing it as a valuable addition to the academic literature. The committee highlighted that the study provides an applied examination of the interactive effect of strategic leadership and strategic management on organizational performance, an area that has received limited attention in previous research.

The committee also emphasized the practical significance of the study, given its focus on the Yemeni banking sector, a vital sector facing numerous economic, organizational, and operational challenges. The committee noted that the study’s findings and recommendations provide an important and useful reference for banking-sector managers and decision-makers.

The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, postgraduate students, and other interested individuals, in addition to the researcher’s colleagues and family members.
