Sana’a University Continuing Education Unit Hosts Intensive Workshop on Literature Reviews and Critical Appraisal

SANA’A – May 18, 2026 — The Continuing Education Unit at Sana’a University’s Faculty of Dentistry successfully concluded a comprehensive two-day training workshop titled “Literature Reviews and Critical Appraisal.” Held on May 17–18, the intensive 12-hour program is part of an ongoing academic series designed to enhance the research capabilities and methodology skills of postgraduate students and faculty researchers.
The workshop was conducted by Prof. Rami Ishaq, who led several key scientific sessions focusing on advanced skills in examining scientific literature and critically evaluating contemporary academic studies.
The curriculum was divided into two core modules:
Module I: Literature Reviews: This segment provided an essential introduction to the foundations and strategic planning of literature reviews. Participants were trained on advanced database search strategies and engaged in hands-on practical sessions utilizing the latest academic tools and resources in the field.
Module II: Critical Appraisal: This segment covered various research designs and foundational concepts of critical appraisal. Participants explored standard evaluation frameworks, conducted analytical reviews of published research papers, learned how to identify methodological “red flags,” and practiced systemic evidence extraction.
The workshop witnessed high engagement from the attendees, who emphasized the value of the practical and academic skills gained, noting how these modern research methodologies will directly improve the quality of their scientific output.
