Sana’a University Faculty of Medicine Holds Strategic Meeting to Advance Academic Programs and Quality Standards

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University held an extensive meeting today to discuss the strategic development of its academic programs and the enhancement of educational quality. The session was chaired by Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari, the Faculty Dean, with the attendance of Prof. Ahmed Mujahed, Vice Dean for Quality Affairs, along with members of the Steering Committee and department chairs.
The meeting focused on reviewing course reports for the 2025–2026 academic year, analyzing key academic indicators and the progress of curriculum implementation. Participants discussed specialized mechanisms for course development aimed at improving educational outcomes in alignment with rigorous academic quality standards.
A primary agenda item was the faculty’s alignment with the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) international accreditation requirements. The committee reviewed the necessary procedures to harmonize the faculty’s programs with global medical education standards, a move designed to strengthen the institution’s standing both locally and internationally.
During the session, National Expert Prof. Saleh Bahaj delivered a detailed presentation on academic program development and continuous assessment strategies. Prof. Bahaj emphasized the importance of institutional teamwork and systematic planning as essential pillars for achieving international accreditation.
Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari, the Faculty Dean, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to academic excellence. “Our efforts are focused on a collaborative approach between all departments and committees,” Prof. Al-Shehari stated. “We are dedicated to meeting international accreditation standards and elevating the caliber of medical education provided at our institution.”
The Dean concluded by noting that the upcoming phase will see intensified efforts to build faculty capacity and modernize curricula, ensuring that Sana’a University remains a leading academic landmark that keeps pace with the latest global developments in medical education.
