The Sixth Scientific Conference for Laboratory Medicine Kicks Off at the Faculty of Medicine, Sana’a University, Alongside the Opening of Its Accompanying Exhibition

The Sixth Scientific Conference on Laboratory Medicine commenced today at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Sana’a. The event is held under the patronage of the University President, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bakheiti, and the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Shehari, along with the Head of the Laboratory Department, Prof. Dr. Anwar Al-Madhhaji. The conference features participation from a distinguished group of academics and researchers.
This scientific gathering aims to present and discuss the graduation research projects of the 47th cohort of students from the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences. The conference will span three days, during which ten scientific research projects—conducted by 90 male and female students under the supervision of faculty members—will be discussed.
In his opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Shehari, expressed his pride in the graduation of a new cohort of qualified professionals in the field of medical laboratories. He reaffirmed the Faculty’s commitment to supporting scientific research as a cornerstone for advancing medical education and enhancing laboratory diagnostics.
Dr. Al-Shehari emphasized that the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is among the leading faculties at the University of Sana’a, boasting a specialized academic staff capable of contributing significantly to the development and professional supervision of scientific research.
Meanwhile, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Arwa Othman, congratulated the graduating students and commended their efforts in preparing research projects with practical applications that contribute to the development of the healthcare sector. She highlighted the Faculty’s strong emphasis on scientific conferences as a means to enhance the quality of both research and education.
Conference Chair, Prof. Dr. Huda Al-Shami, presented summaries of the research projects scheduled for discussion, underscoring their importance in improving laboratory test outcomes and advancing the precision of medical diagnostics.
The conference was attended by a number of prominent academics, including Dr. Adam Al-Sarmi, Head of the Pathology Department; Dr. Nawal Al-Hanhanah, Head of the Biochemistry Department; and national expert Prof. Dr. Saleh Bahaj, in addition to faculty members and students.
In his speech, Head of the Laboratory Department, Prof. Dr. Anwar Al-Madhhaji, praised the efforts of the students and researchers, emphasizing the importance of fostering collaboration between the Faculty and medical laboratories to apply field research findings in a way that serves the healthcare system and enhances the effectiveness of laboratory practices in Yemen.
