Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Holds Orientation Seminar for New Students

Today, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences organized an orientation seminar for new students enrolled in the Medical, Nursing, and Laboratory Sciences programs. The event was marked by a spirit of passion, ambition, and eagerness for academic excellence.
The seminar was attended by the faculty leadership and members of the University Student Forum. The session commenced with a welcoming speech delivered by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Shahari, who congratulated the new students on their admission to this prestigious academic institution. He highlighted the prominent role of the faculty in supporting the healthcare sector by preparing highly qualified graduates capable of competing locally, regionally, and internationally.
Dr. Al-Shahari also pointed to the faculty’s ongoing efforts to fulfill the requirements for obtaining international medical accreditation from the WFME (World Federation for Medical Education), underscoring its importance in enhancing the quality of medical education and the global recognition of the faculty’s academic programs.
The Dean urged students to prioritize academic achievement, wisely invest their time in their studies, and adhere to academic and administrative protocols. He encouraged them to familiarize themselves with the university’s regulations and student code of conduct to ensure a successful academic journey.
Prof. Dr. Arwa Othman, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, emphasized the importance of understanding the Student Affairs Regulations, noting that a dedicated workshop on academic advising and support for the Medicine program will be held in the coming days to guide students through their academic transition.
In a speech delivered by Ahmed Al-Mansour on behalf of the Faculty Student Forum, he affirmed the forum’s commitment to supporting new students, facilitating their integration, and encouraging student-led initiatives, competitions, and creative activities that foster a spirit of collaboration and excellence.
The seminar concluded with an informative lecture by Dr. Mohammed Bazdan, teaching assistant in the Anatomy Department. He elaborated on the faculty’s role in guiding students toward the right academic path, developing their skills, and providing services that enhance their professional growth. He also emphasized the student’s responsibility and its positive impact on the overall educational process.
Dr. Ramzi Al-Sayyadi, coordinator of the new student cohort, stated that course schedules and study plans will be announced soon, with ongoing support and coordination with faculty members to ensure a smooth learning experience.
At the end of the seminar, students participated in a guided tour of the college facilities, including lecture halls, administrative offices, and specialized laboratories such as the Anatomy and Histology departments. They were introduced to the functions and importance of these labs and how to make the most of them to support their academic development.
