Dean of Medicine Inspects Laboratories as Sana’a University Pursues Global WFME Accreditation

In a major step toward international recognition, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the faculty’s laboratories today. The visit focused on evaluating infrastructure upgrades required to meet the rigorous standards of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).
Accompanied by the Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs and Hospitals, Prof. Anwar Al-Mughalles, the Dean visited specialized facilities including the Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Parasitology, and Physiology laboratories. The tour aimed to ensure that medical equipment and training environments align with international benchmarks for clinical and practical medical education.
During the inspection, laboratory supervisors provided detailed briefings on technical readiness and the implementation of modernization phases. Prof. Al-Shehari emphasized that upgrading these facilities is a core pillar of the accreditation process.
“WFME standards place the quality of the educational environment at the forefront of accreditation requirements,” stated Dr. Al-Shehari. “Our modernization efforts are built on sustainability and excellence, moving beyond temporary fixes to ensure long-term academic quality.”
The Dean highlighted that strengthening infrastructure is a direct investment in the professional caliber of graduates and the university’s regional and international reputation. Following the directives of University Rector Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukaiti, the faculty is committed to ensuring that all technical specifications serve the educational process for years to come.
This visit is part of a series of field assessments designed to align Sana’a University’s academic infrastructure with the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) standards, reinforcing its position as a leading medical institution in the region.
