Upholding Excellence and Quality: Sana’a University Faculty of Medicine Conducts Medical Proficiency Exams and Interviews for Admitted Students

SANA’A, YEMEN – As part of its commitment to rigorous academic and professional standards, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University has officially launched medical proficiency examinations, clinical assessments, and personal interviews for students recently admitted to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program. These procedures are a key component of the university’s organized framework to finalize admissions for the current academic year under the general enrollment system.
The evaluation process, characterized by high levels of organization and efficiency, aims to verify the readiness of candidates for the demanding nature of clinical training. Comprehensive clinical examinations included assessments of motor skills, balance, limb integrity, and effective communication abilities. Furthermore, students underwent detailed vision and hearing screenings, along with a thorough review of their medical histories to ensure they meet the physical and professional requirements essential for future medical practice.
A specialized medical committee oversaw the proceedings and issued final eligibility decisions. The committee was chaired by Prof. Adam Abdullah Al-Sermi, with the membership of Dr. Mohammed Bazdan, Dr. Ramzi Al-Sayadi, and Dr. Amer Al-Hamati.
In an official statement, Prof. Al-Sermi emphasized that these assessments are a fundamental pillar in guaranteeing the quality of medical education outcomes. He noted that the medical profession requires specific competencies and physical capabilities that enable students to endure the rigors of clinical rotations and engage directly in patient care.
