Ms. Zubaida Qasem Al-Mazalim was awarded a Master’s degree in Radio and Television with an average of (Excellent) and a grade of (95%) for her thesis titled: The Ethics of Media Coverage of Yemeni Events on News Channels: A Survey Study of Yemeni Elite Attitudes in Light of the Channels’ Social Responsibility and Ethical Duty, which was submitted to the Faculty of Mass Communication – Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

The study aimed to:
Measure the extent to which news channels under study adhere to ethical standards and fulfill their social responsibilities in covering events in Yemen.
Identify and analyze the attitudes of the Yemeni elite toward the media performance of these channels.
The findings of the study revealed that there is a noticeable disparity in media coverage, showing a predominant focus on conflict and political events while overlooking major humanitarian and national issues.
Based on the findings, the researcher proposed several recommendations, including:
Promoting media integrity and supporting social stability through responsible journalism grounded in ethical duty.
Reducing ethical violations observed in the news channels under study.
Encouraging the Yemeni elite to diversify their sources of information and news.
Following the defense, the Viva-voce committee recommended the printing and exchange of the thesis with relevant institutions.
The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and interested participants, colleagues and the researcher’s family members.
