Faculty of Mass Communication

Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and may blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and chosen good companions.  And after: The importance of the media in the lives of peoples and nations everywhere has a special place, as the media has become the backbone of life, especially after its increasing importance and danger to society. It has also become extremely important to highlight the important role played by the visual, audio and print media in shaping the awareness of the masses. And molding ideas towards complex issues of society. Hence, thinking began to establish a specialized college of media to teach students various media arts, and to provide the Yemeni community and media institutions with qualified journalists, broadcasters, and relations men trained in communication methods and techniques for communicating with the public. This is what happened in the academic year 1996/1997, when three departments were established in the college. They are (press and publishing – radio and television – public relations and advertising). It also established the Quality Assurance Unit, the most important of which is to build an academic and administrative system that guarantees the achievement of academic and administrative quality for all university units and their academic and administrative operations. The College of Information has sought to attract specialists and people with experience in the academic and professional field who are capable of graduating qualified cadres in its various departments. It has also developed its curricula and updated its academic programs in several stages, the most important of which was the development of academic programs in the three departments in the academic year 2019/2020, under the supervision and special care of the professor. Dr. Al-Qasim Muhammad Abbas, in which the Faculty of Information ranked first among the university’s faculties in the description of programs and courses. The college has also made many achievements, including but not limited to: 1/ Developing descriptions of programs and curricula in the three departments (radio and television – public relations and advertising – journalism and electronic publishing) for the bachelor’s level. 2/ Opening diploma programs (for non-specialists) in (radio and television – public relations and advertising – journalism and electronic publishing). 3/ Opening master’s programs in (radio and television, public relations and advertising, journalism and electronic publishing). 4/ Opening doctoral programs in the three departments (Radio and Television – Public Relations and Advertising – Journalism and Electronic Publishing). 5/ Description of the master’s programs in the college’s three departments. 6/ Description of doctoral programs in the college’s three departments. 7/ Description of diploma programs (for non-specialists). 8/ Opening of Sana’a University Radio from the Faculty of Information. 9/ Equipping the press laboratory (multimedia unit) to train and qualify students. Finally, we note that the college is working hard to modernize the equipment and tools for the media process laboratories (TV studio, radio studio, and marketing unit) to benefit from them in training and qualifying students, as well as in conducting professional and qualifying courses for students from outside the College of Media.
