Examination Committee
Member Name Role University
1 Dr. Tariq Hashem Al-Habashi Internal Examiner Sana’a University
2 Dr. Khalid Al-Salwi Principal Supervisor Sana’a University
3 Prof. Ali Mohammed Al-Habani External Examiner Thamar University
Study Objectives and Findings
The study aimed to investigate the geological, geochemical, and petrographic characteristics of iron deposits, as well as to determine the origin, formation processes, and economic potential within the study area.
Key Findings:
The iron deposits in the study area are classified as Banded Iron Formations (BIF) of marine chemical origin.
They were formed from hydrothermal ore solutions in a reducing marine environment.
Deposition occurred through mixing with oxygenated seawater, leading to the precipitation of iron ore in a medium-depth marine environment associated with volcanic rocks formed within active tectonic oceanic island arcs.
The characteristics of these deposits align with Precambrian BIFs found globally, specifically within the Arabian-Nubian Shield (e.g., deposits in Egypt and Saudi Arabia).
Recommendations
The researcher proposed several critical recommendations for future development, including:
Conducting advanced geological studies using drilling and subsurface exploration.
Utilizing remote sensing technologies to determine the depth and extent of iron formation layers buried under sand dunes.
Attracting specialists and investors to initiate exploration projects aimed at the economic exploitation of these resources.
Conclusion and Result
Upon thorough examination, the defense committee recommended the acceptance of the thesis. The candidate was awarded a Master’s Degree in Economic Geology with a general grade of 85% (Very Good).
