Sana’a University Rector Chairs Regular Meeting of Academic Accreditation Committees at Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences

Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Sana’a University Rector, chaired the regular meeting of the Academic Accreditation Committees for the Medicine and Surgery Program at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The meeting was held this morning at the college’s main building in the presence of the Vice-Rector for Hospital Affairs, Prof. Abdulhafiz Thawaba, the dean, the vice deans, academic officials, and faculty members.
During the session, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti praised the considerable efforts made by the faculty’s leadership, academic staff, and administrative teams in meeting the requirements for international academic accreditation from the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). He emphasized the importance of adhering to international standards to ensure the quality of medical education and enhance graduate outcomes in line with the evolving needs of the labor market and recent scientific developments.
In his welcoming remarks, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shahari, expressed appreciation for the University Rector’s visit and reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to implementing accreditation and quality standards and advancing its academic programs in accordance with global best practices in medical education.
The meeting included discussions on key issues such as evaluating current academic programs and reviewing proposed mechanisms for meeting accreditation standards. Several decisions were made to accelerate progress and ensure the achievement of the faculty’s accreditation goals.
Dr. Nawar Al-Wather, head of Standard One team, and Dr. Nora Al-Sagheer, head of Standard Two team and program coordinator, presented detailed updates on the progress that has been made toward fulfilling accreditation requirements.
Furthermore, Prof. Saleh Bahaj, the external accreditation coordinator, provided an overview of the efforts undertaken and milestones achieved, commending the high level of collaboration and coordination among the faculty’s accreditation teams.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Ahmed Mujahed, Vice Dean for Quality Affairs; Prof. Arwa Othman, Vice Dean for Student Affairs; and Prof. Anwar Al-Mughalis, Vice Dean for Hospital and Community Services, as well as the heads of academic committees, scientific departments, and faculty members.
