Acting Prime Minister Visits Sana’a University Faculty of Dentistry to Review Development Projects and Medical Services

His excellency Alamah Mohammed Mohammed Meftah, Acting Prime Minister, today visited the Faculty of Dentistry at Sana’a University to review its academic and educational activities, medical facilities, development projects, and healthcare services provided to the community. He was accompanied by Prof. Hatem Al-Dois, Vice Minister of Education and Scientific Research, and Mr. Hadi Ammar, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Basic Education Sector.
The delegation was received by Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, along with Dr. Taghreed Al-Kebsi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty Secretary-General, and a number of faculty members and administrative and technical staff.
During the visit, the Acting Prime Minister reviewed the Faculty’s Maxillofacial Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) unit, which started operation last May. The equipment, including its installation and setup, cost approximately YER 35 million. The unit provides specialized diagnostic services to the public at nominal fees.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti explained that the unit represents a significant addition to the Faculty’s medical and educational capabilities, providing specialized diagnostic services while supporting the practical training of dental students.
The delegation also inspected 24 newly constructed dental training units, with an estimated cost of YER 46 million, as well as the Faculty’s existing 166 dental chairs, which provide free dental services to the public.
The visitors further toured nine specialized teaching clinics, which provide free services to patients on a daily basis. They received an overview of the services offered, the available equipment, and the clinics’ role in strengthening practical training and linking theoretical knowledge with clinical practice.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti noted that the Faculty’s development projects aim to strengthen its educational and training environment, enhance the facilities available to students and faculty members, and expand the medical and community services provided by the Faculty.
The visit also included an inspection of several other facilities, where the delegation was briefed on the Faculty’s educational and research activities and its efforts to improve academic performance, services, and the overall learning environment.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Acting Prime Minister and accompanying delegation commended the development efforts at the Faculty of Dentistry and its ongoing educational and service projects, emphasizing the importance of continued improvement to enhance academic and professional performance and strengthen the Faculty’s role in preparing specialized dental professionals and serving the community.
