Mr. Sadiq Ahmed Ali Yahya Mujawwad was awarded a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations with an average of (Excellent) and a grade of (95%) for his thesis titled: Yemeni Parties and Their Role in Managing the Political Crisis: An Analytical Study for the Period (2007–2024), which was submitted to the Political and Strategic Studies Center (PSSC) – Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
| # | Committee Members | Designation | Position |
| 1 | Dr. Nabil Mohammed Al-Obaidi | Internal Examiner | Chair |
| 2 | Assoc. Prof. Ali Mutahar Al-Athrubi | Main Supervisor | Member |
| 3 | Dr. Adel Abdulhamid Ghoneimah | External Examiner | Member |
The thesis aimed to:
- Analyze the actual role of Yemeni political parties in managing the political crisis during the period 2007–2024.
- Examine the extent to which these parties contributed to containing or exacerbating conflicts.
The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:
- The role of Yemeni political parties in managing the political crisis was weak, due to internal divisions and the alignment of some parties with regional and external agendas.
- Partisan and factional interests prevailed over the national interest.
- The parties demonstrated inability to address major national issues.
- The absence of a shared national vision among the parties led to their failure to reach genuine political consensus.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended:
- Restructuring Yemeni political parties on modern, national, and democratic foundations.
- Unifying partisan discourse on major national issues.
- Working toward building a comprehensive national alliance among political parties and entities.
- Activating the supervisory and awareness-raising roles of political parties.
- Encouraging parties to participate in national dialogue and reconciliation initiatives.
- Neutralizing political parties from external influences.
- Updating and reforming legislation governing political party activity.
The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, colleagues and the researcher’s family members.
