Master’s Degree Awarded to Researcher Amal Abdullah Al-Mahbashi with Distinction in Islamic Creed and Thought

Researcher Amal Abdullah Abdul Hafiz Al-Mahbashi was awarded a Master’s Degree in Islamic Creed and Thought with an average of excellent and a grade of (95) for her thesis titled: Al-Wasit Al-Mufid Al-Jami’ Bayna Al-Idah Wa Al-Iqd Al-Farid by Hamid ibn Ahmed Al-Mahalli (d. ‎‎652 AH): A Critical Study and Investigation of Part Three–from the Beginning of the Chapter on ‎Misguidance and Guidance to the End of the Manuscript, which was submitted to the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts and Humanities – Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Thursday, July 30, 2026‎‎.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed to:
 Critically edit and verify the remaining part of Al-Wasit Al-Mufid Al-Jami‘ Bayna Al-Idah Wa Al-‘Iqd Al-Farid in accordance with established scholarly principles, thereby contributing to the Islamic scholarly literature in general and Zaydi scholarship in particular.
 Highlight the book’s scholarly and historical significance, as it serves as a record of a particular stage in the development of Islamic thought and represents a valuable example of Zaydi Islamic theological doctrines during the author’s era, as well as his methodology and approach to presenting them.
The study reached several significant findings, including:
 Hamid Al-Shahid was an influential theologian and scholar of his time and among the prolific authors in the field of the principles of religion (Usul al-Din). He employed his knowledge, learning, and intellectual background in two principal areas: the educational and instructional sphere, and intellectual debate and refutation of those who disagreed with him and his school of thought.
 The influence of Hamid Al-Shahid among Zaydi scholars was not confined to his own era but extended to subsequent generations, as his works were copied, studied, and utilized by scholars, students, and other interested readers.
The study recommended printing and publishing Al-Wasit to make it accessible for scholarly use and adopting it as a source for the study of Zaydi theology during the sixth and seventh Islamic centuries (AH).
The thesis defense was attended by faculty members, researchers, students, and interested participants as well as the researcher’s colleagues and family members.
